Is the mandatory health insurance fund contribution tax-deductible?
No, the mandatory membership fee you pay to your health insurance fund (CM, Solidaris, HZIV, etc.) is not tax-deductible. It is, after all, a private expense that everyone in Belgium is required to pay.
Social security contributions, however, are tax-deductible
This probably isn’t news to you: as a self-employed person in Belgium, you pay mandatory social security contributions every quarter. Your social security contributions are indeed 100% tax-deductible.
Don’t forget to add the payment request from your social insurance fund (Liantis, Xerius, Securex, Partena…) to your bookkeeping. 😉
And what about supplementary insurance?
Guaranteed income insurance is also fully tax-deductible. Your hospitalisation insurance, on the other hand, is not.
